Imitation of Life: the Next Millennium ReviewI received this audio book as a gift, and although it took me awhile to get to it (I had lots of books waiting) it was one of the most enjoyable I have read in recent memory. Claire Mack uses the 1959 movie (of the same title) for the theme of interracial relationships, but quickly takes her story in a new direction 'for the new millenium'. Once I started the book, I looked for trips to take and errands to run so I could listen to more of this entertaining story. Claire reads the book herself on the CD, and her voice is wonderful,easily transitioning from one character to another. The characters are described so vividly I could picture each of them in my mind. There is some graphic language in the book, but it was needed to build authentic characters. I have not seen the movie, but this book definitely stood on its own. A lovely story; happy, sad, reflective. I would recommend this book!Imitation of Life: the Next Millennium Overview
